Updated Self by MCM in 1889 / March 21st, 2007

884225

Due to a strange chain of events, I had to create a personal site for myself (like a portfolio, only not so obviously so). In the process, I decided to tie my blog into said site more tightly than expected. The end result? The audience for my portfolio site will gain insight into my apparent disdain for my portfolio site via my blog.

I may have created a personal-development paradox for myself.

At any rate, I’ve collected my art and vids and other stuff in one place now, so it might be easier to find what you’re looking for. If you were looking for something. If not, close your eyes.

My broader goal is to write a useful “how to” feature, like how to perfect font rendering on a C64 or install Boodler on my rice cooker. I guess I should try and learn how to do something useful first. Stupid paradoxes.

I shall endeavour to return after March 31, when the government goes back to sleep for the year.

Ouch — Two jabs at me in a single sentence. What have I done to be treated with such disdain?

Well, at least the fonts aren’t microscopic anymore. Good to know you’re still alive, too.

  2. MrAndrews Says:

Those weren’t jabs at you, those were jabs at my inability to do anything worthy of a “how to”. I only ever take jabs at myself. Or possibly Drew at Rocketboom.

Tho if you could figure out how to install Boodler on my rice cooker, that’d be cool.

    I’m procrastinating like mad today.

  3. isolationism Says:

Yes, well, my massive audience of two occasional readers (who neither use Linux nor Boodler) find it all very interesting, I’m sure.

To phrase that another way: A howto does not a blog make — even if we do get that rice cooker going. You probably get more traffic in a couple hours than I do in a month.

  4. MrAndrews Says:

I think you underestimate the effect a soundscape-playing rice cooker would have on your traffic. Then for a follow-up, you could write a top-10 list of why rice cookers are more secure than Windows boxes.

I enjoy your posts, at any rate. Even if I don’t always know what they mean. If I ever crack open Boodler, I know where to go first.

I’ve got a vicious fever goin’ on, so don’t listen to me too much.

  5. isolationism Says:

Don’t worry, it doesn’t show. Feel better soon, mister.

  6. Mark Schacter Says:

Hey Mike, thanks for the link to my site from yours. It’s generating traffic, believe it or not!!

    Cheers,

    Mark.

  7. MrAndrews Says:

Mark: Excellent! Yours is one of my favourite sites, too! I love seeing all the great photographs coming in through the RSS feed :)

  8. MrAndrews Says:

BTW: Mark is from Lux et Veritas, a great photography site. Check it out for sure.
